South Korea has designated December 24, 2020 to January 3, 2021 as a year-end special quarantine period for all regions to curb further spread of COVID-19. The measures come amid a resurgence of the virus, with daily new cases spiking over 1,000.

Private gatherings/parties/events that hold more than 5 persons are to be strongly avoided and such gatherings at restaurants are prohibitied. (penalties imposed)
